The most common listing errors

Errors types you may encounter in Listings, available in the Listing Filters under Status\Error category:

How to troubleshoot or resolve

Approval needed 

What it means:

You need to obtain approval to sell products in this restricted sub-category.

What to do:

For certain products, brands, categories, and sub-categories, Amazon requires sellers to obtain approval before listing products for sale. The approval process may include document requests, performance checks, and other qualifications. Attributes missing


What it means:

One or multiple attributes are absent from the listing.

What to do:

Edit the listing, add the missing attributes, and save.

Too many characters 

What it means:

Depending on the field, you surpass a specified character limit.

What to do:

Edit the listing,  enter a valid value, and save.

Too few characters 

What it means:

Depending on the field, you may encounter either an empty field or insufficient characters.

What to do:

Edit the listing,  enter a valid value, and save.

Duplicate SKU 

What it means:

The SKU is already set up with a different Product ID (i.e., GTIN, UPC, ISBN, etc.)

What to do:

Check the SKU, GTIN, UPC, ISBN, etc in the Seller's Market and delete the duplicate If you believe the Product ID you entered is correct, please create a case for Partner Support.

Invalid Product ID (barcode)

What it means:

The Product ID is invalid. Ensure GTINs are 14 digits, EANs are 13 digits and UPCs are 12 digits

What to do:

Edit the listing: switch to GTIN for 14-digit codes, to EANs for 13-digit codes, and to UPCs for 12-digit codes, then save.

Marketplace system error 

What it means:

A system error occurred. 

What to do:

Contact Walmart Partner support at https://supplierhelp.walmart.com/s/.

Not allowed to create/modify new ASIN

What it means:

You are attempting to change an identity attribute for this SKU.

What to do:

Delete this SKU and recreate the SKU with the appropriate identity attribute. For more information and detailed instructions, see: http://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/help/23191

Not authorized to sell

What it means:

Seller is not authorized to list products in this product line or category.

What to do:

For certain products, brands, categories, and sub-categories, Amazon requires sellers to obtain approval before listing products for sale. Unidentified error

What it means:

The listing failed because there was an error.

What to do:

Follow the failure notes inside the listing.

Pricing Error 

What it means:

The price does not meet the system's required criteria.

What to do:

Edit the listing,  enter a valid value, and save.

XML Parsing Error at Line ...,(Disregard the line number) Column 26: cvc-type.3.1.3: The value '' of element 'Value' is not valid.

What it means:

The Sitnsell listing lacks the ASIN.

What to do:

Locate your product ASIN using Amazon's catalog per Amazon Guide to Fix Listings. Add the ASIN to the Listing ID.


Note:

To prevent future listings with messages such as "Not authorized to sell" or "Approval needed" identify all listings meeting these criteria and utilize the "Delete" options, adding the note "Approval required".
